Our second Karma Company is The Walt Disney Company ("Disney").
Disney's purpose, simply, is to create positive emotional connections with their customers.
They call these connections "magic." Their business is to provide it wherever possible.
Disney has three major operating groups: Media studios & distribution, merchandising, and theme parks. Respectively, these provide magic through the screen, in the home, and on vacation.
Disney's products last.
Pick a family at random from anywhere in the world, and you are very likely to find Disney love from every generation. Very frequently, young viewers today are won over by the same stories and characters that won over their parents a generation ago.
The consistency with which Disney achieves this lasting quality, as well as their ability to adapt as the world changes, is both very rare and special.
The world is a better place with Disney in it.
The ultimate reason for Disney's success? Interacting with them makes people feel better.
By balancing creativity with commercial appeal, Disney brings fine art to broad audiences. More importantly, they bring art that allows audiences to understand, at least for a moment, that life is more magical than it sometimes seems.
